Review Title : DOCTORS- "The Way of Life" Hits: 74

I am an avid reader. Fiction or Non-fiction everything excites me. But there are some books, which leave a lasting effect on your mind, your life. One such book is ‘Doctors’ by Erich Segal. It is my favorite book. It is a love story of two Doctors, Laura and Barney, who were childhood friends. Segal has woven a magical story around them. He has wonderfully described their transition from childhood to adolescence, then from being teenagers to being adults, their life as medical students and finally discovering each other after failed marriages and relationships. He has shown mental agony of both of them when they find that their only son is terminally ill and inspite of being doctors the can do little to save him. Finally in the last chapter he has shown hope and shows how their son is cured with help of new discoveries and God’s grace. He has wonderfully described the minutest details of a Doctor’s life, their profession and their mental setup. Infact while reading the book one feels like being a Doctor. It is a dramatic book and affects one’s life in a positive way. The healthy relationship shared by the two main characters Laura and Barney is very inspiring. They really show what friendship is all about. They way Barney works hard after death of his father can inspire anyone. He leaves all his desires for fulfillment of his duties towards his family and attaining his goal. Also they way they hold there nerve while their son was ill teaches oneself to be resilient in life. I’ve read the book umpteen times and recommend this book for all.xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
